F SSIBU Mission Foundation is taking another step toward strengthening menstrual health support for girls by expanding the Keep Her in School initiative across Eastern Uganda. The next phase will connect menstrual health education, sexual and reproductive health awareness and sanitary pad distribution in a coordinated effort reaching more than 2,000 girls.
Two additional schools will receive menstrual and sexual and reproductive health education, creating opportunities for girls to learn about puberty, menstruation, hygiene, reproductive health, pregnancy prevention, HIV and STI risks, stigma and where to seek appropriate support.
Alongside education, the program will expand sanitary pad distribution to girls experiencing menstrual poverty. This combination is important because information alone cannot address the practical challenge of accessing menstrual materials, while materials alone cannot address misinformation, stigma and gaps in health knowledge.
We also aim to strengthen collaboration with schools, parents, teachers and community stakeholders so that menstrual health becomes part of a broader support system for adolescent girls. Through these partnerships, girls can be encouraged to remain engaged in education and seek support when challenges arise.
Donors have a meaningful role in helping us take this work to more schools and communities. Contributions can help provide sanitary pads, educational materials, outreach sessions and other essential resources required to reach vulnerable girls.
More than 2,000 girls are within our reach. With committed partners, we can help ensure that menstrual poverty does not stand between them and their education.
