Turning Children's Poems and Songs into Voices Against Child Marriage

By Ivan Seguya | Project leader

Children have powerful voices, and when they are given safe platforms to express themselves, their creativity can become a force for positive change. Through the Nurture 200 Lives Program, F SSIBU Mission Foundation is supporting children to develop poems, songs, performances, and creative messages addressing challenges that affect their communities.

Child marriage remains a serious barrier to education and childhood development in vulnerable communities. Girls who leave school because of early marriage can lose opportunities to complete their education and pursue their aspirations. Boys can also experience pressures that contribute to school dropout and limited opportunities.

Through talent activities, children are learning to speak about these issues from their own perspective. They write poems, develop songs, perform messages, and encourage their peers to value education and reject practices that can take children away from school.

This approach allows children to become more than beneficiaries. They become young advocates and agents of change.

Donor support makes it possible to provide creative materials, mentorship, rehearsal spaces, sporting activities, and opportunities for children to present their work within schools and communities.

Every poem written and every song performed can carry a message of hope, education, protection, and opportunity.

Your support can help amplify children’s voices and give them the confidence to speak for themselves and encourage other children to remain in school, pursue their dreams, and believe in their potential.
