Menstrual poverty is not simply about lacking menstrual products. It can involve limited access to water, inadequate hygiene supplies, insufficient knowledge, stigma, and a lack of supportive conversations at home. For girls in vulnerable communities, these combined challenges can make school attendance and participation more difficult.
F SSIBU Mission Foundation is addressing these interconnected challenges through Keep Her in School. Our approach combines menstrual material distribution with mentorship, hygiene support, parent engagement, and expansion into more schools where girls need assistance.
We provide menstrual materials to help girls manage their periods with dignity. We support schools with water cans and handwashing detergents to strengthen access to basic hygiene resources. Through mentorship, girls receive practical information and encouragement to understand menstruation and address concerns that may affect their confidence at school.
We are also engaging parents because lasting change requires families to become part of the solution. Parents are encouraged to communicate openly with girls, provide reassurance, and challenge harmful attitudes that portray menstruation as something shameful.
Our work is guided by a simple belief: a girl should not have to miss opportunities because she is menstruating.
As we expand into additional schools, donor support becomes increasingly important. Contributions can help us provide menstrual materials, strengthen hygiene resources, facilitate mentorship sessions, and reach more families.
By investing in this work, donors are helping address both the practical and social dimensions of menstrual poverty—creating conditions in which girls can attend school with dignity, confidence, and hope for their future.
