Many girls enter adolescence without access to reliable sexual and reproductive health information. This can leave them dependent on myths, peer advice, or silence when facing questions about puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, HIV, sexually transmitted infections, consent, and healthy relationships. Parents can face the same challenge, particularly when they lack the confidence or resources to discuss these subjects openly with their daughters.
Through Keep Her in School, F SSIBU Mission Foundation is helping bridge this information gap. With support from our donors, we are providing and distributing educational materials that give girls, parents, and caregivers practical information they can understand and use. Resources such as the Olutindo parent guide help parents begin meaningful conversations with teenage girls about sexual and reproductive health in a supportive and respectful way.
Alongside distributing materials, we facilitate education sessions, mentorship, counselling, and parent–girl discussions. These activities create safe opportunities for girls to ask questions, understand their health, and seek guidance before challenges become crises. Parents are also equipped to listen, communicate, and provide appropriate support.
The impact extends beyond information. Better-informed girls can make more informed decisions about their health and education, while better-equipped parents can become stronger sources of guidance and protection. This contributes to our wider goal of reducing barriers that can interrupt girls’ schooling.
For every donor who supports this work, you are helping put practical knowledge into the hands of families who need it. Your contribution helps us reach more girls and parents with educational materials and learning opportunities that can help protect girls and keep them in school.
