Yesterday, schools reopened for the third term, and since then, children under our care have been returning to their respective schools to resume their studies. For some, returning to school is an exciting routine. For many vulnerable children we serve, however, it is a journey that comes with uncertainty, sacrifice, and difficult challenges.
Before these children can sit in a classroom, many families must struggle to provide school fees, uniforms, shoes, books, meals, and other basic requirements. In households already affected by poverty, meeting all these needs can be overwhelming. Some children have previously missed school because their families could not afford what was required. Others have faced prolonged interruptions in their education, putting them at risk of falling behind their peers or dropping out altogether.
At F SSIBU Mission Foundation, we have seen how these challenges affect children—not only academically, but also emotionally. A child who repeatedly stays home can begin to lose confidence, feel excluded, and gradually lose hope in their education.
That is why we have been working alongside vulnerable children and their families to remove some of the barriers keeping them away from school.
With the generosity of our donors, we have helped children access essential school needs, including fees, meals, uniforms, shoes, books, learning materials, and counselling. We have supported children who might otherwise have remained at home to return to their classrooms and continue pursuing their education.
Since the reopening of schools yesterday, we have continued this effort by helping children under our care return to their respective schools for the third term.
For these children, this is more than a school return. It is a second chance, a restored sense of belonging, and an opportunity to continue preparing for the next class.
We are deeply grateful to every donor who has helped make these journeys possible.
