The third school term began yesterday, bringing children back into classrooms across Uganda. At F SSIBU Mission Foundation, we are using this important moment to help children under our care return to school and continue the educational journeys they have worked so hard to pursue.
Returning to school is only the first step. Our greater goal is to help children remain in school, participate consistently, and make meaningful academic progress.
For children from vulnerable households, maintaining that continuity can be difficult. Financial hardship can affect attendance, access to learning materials, nutrition, clothing, and other basic requirements. These challenges can gradually undermine a child’s confidence and academic performance.
With support from our donors, we are working to reduce those pressures.
As children return to their respective schools, we are helping address some of the necessities that enable them to participate in education with greater stability and dignity. We want children to spend their energy learning—not worrying about whether they have the basic requirements needed to remain in class.
Third term is an important period for academic consolidation. Children are expected to complete their coursework, prepare for assessments, and demonstrate the knowledge they have gained throughout the year. For many, successful completion will open the door to the next class.
We celebrate the children who have already returned.
Now, our commitment is to ensure that their return becomes sustained progress.
With continued donor partnership, we can help more vulnerable children remain in school, complete their studies, and take their next step with confidence.
