Keeping Children in School, Protecting Their Hope

By Naijuka Aggie | Project leader

A child missing school today can have consequences that extend far beyond one day or one term. Missed lessons can lead to falling behind academically, reduced confidence and, in some circumstances, permanent withdrawal from education.

For children living in vulnerable circumstances, the risk of educational interruption is often connected to challenges outside the classroom.

F SSIBU Mission Foundation is working to help children overcome these challenges and return to school prepared to continue their learning. Through donor support, we can help address some of the essential needs that make school attendance possible and sustainable.

These needs include school-related costs, learning materials, shoes, meals and emotional support. Each intervention responds to a practical challenge faced by children and their families.

Consider the difference this can make.

A child who has the materials required for class can participate more confidently. A child who has access to meals can concentrate better on learning. A child who receives encouragement can begin to see themselves not as a victim of poverty, but as a learner with potential. A family receiving support can feel less alone in trying to keep their child in school.

These are important changes.

Education is not only about passing examinations. It is about developing knowledge, confidence, discipline, relationships and skills that can help children navigate adulthood. Keeping children connected to education therefore means protecting more than their academic progress—it means protecting their future possibilities.

Our donors are an essential part of this effort.

Their generosity enables us to reach children who might otherwise be overlooked because their families cannot meet every educational requirement. Through partnership, we can continue identifying vulnerable children, understanding the barriers they face and directing resources toward practical solutions.

The smiles and togetherness visible among the children remind us why this work matters. Behind those smiles are children who deserve the opportunity to learn, play, grow and dream.

We want every child to have a reason to believe that tomorrow can be better than today.

Your support can help make returning to school possible—and staying in school achievable.

Together, we are helping protect children’s education, strengthen their hope and create pathways toward brighter futures.
