For F SSIBU Mission Foundation, protecting adolescent girls from HIV/AIDS begins with knowledge, confidence, and access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information. Many girls face increased vulnerability to HIV because of limited access to age-appropriate sexuality education, stigma, misinformation, poverty, gender-based inequalities, and pressure that can influence decisions about relationships and sexual activity.
Our school-based sexual education initiatives are designed to equip girls with practical knowledge and life skills that enable them to make informed, safe, and responsible decisions about their health and future. Through interactive sessions, mentorship, peer education, health dialogues, and referrals to appropriate health services, we create safe spaces where girls can ask questions, challenge harmful misconceptions, and understand how HIV is transmitted and prevented.
We emphasize HIV prevention alongside broader sexual and reproductive health education, including healthy relationships, consent, delaying sexual activity, reducing risk, knowing one's HIV status, preventing other sexually transmitted infections, and seeking professional health support when needed. We also engage teachers, parents, caregivers, and community stakeholders so that girls receive consistent support beyond the classroom.
The impact goes beyond HIV prevention. When a girl has accurate information and the confidence to protect her health, she is better positioned to remain in school, avoid preventable health risks, build healthy relationships, and pursue her ambitions. Every girl who gains this knowledge represents a stronger family, a healthier community, and a greater opportunity for Uganda's next generation.
Your support can help us reach more schools and communities with quality sexual and reproductive health education. Funding enables us to train mentors and peer educators, develop educational materials, organize school health sessions, strengthen community awareness, and connect vulnerable girls with appropriate health services.
Investing in HIV prevention education is an investment in girls' lives, education, dignity, and future. Together, we can ensure that no girl is left vulnerable simply because she lacked the knowledge or support needed to protect her health.
