Keep her in school

Our Computer Training Hub continues to create meaningful opportunities for girls and young people in the community by giving them practical digital skills, mentorship, and a productive environment in which to spend their time. What began as a skills-development initiative is increasingly becoming an important tool for protecting young people from risks associated with idleness, including early sexual activity and early marriage.

For many girls in our community, limited access to education, employment opportunities, and practical skills can leave them vulnerable to relationships that may result in early pregnancy and marriage. Through computer training, girls are gaining valuable skills in digital literacy, typing, internet use, communication, and other areas that can support their future education and livelihoods. Most importantly, the program is helping them see a future beyond early marriage.

The hub also provides a safe and structured space where girls and boys can spend their time learning, interacting positively, and developing their abilities. By reducing prolonged periods of idleness, the program helps young people make more constructive choices and reduces opportunities for risky sexual activities.

Beyond computer lessons, we use the hub as a platform for mentorship, guidance, and discussions on responsible decision-making, relationships, education, personal development, and future goals. Girls are encouraged to remain focused on their education and develop skills that can increase their independence and confidence.
