The Centre of Love is committed to addressing the pressing issue of unemployment among the youth in Kenya. With the unemployment rate exceeding 50% and continuing to rise, there is an urgent need for sustainable solutions that empower young people with skills that enhance their employability. We continue to raise money to properly equip our plumbing and electrical programs available to our youth, including scholarships!
Youth unemployment in Kenya is a critical issue, with over 50% of young people unemployed. This has led to various social problems, including: Increased crime rates, Mental health issues among the youth, Idleness and lack of purpose and a significant portion of the youth not contributing to the country's economy.
Market-Driven Training: The vocational building will offer courses in high-demand fields such as plumbing, tailoring, electrical and electronic skills, and beauty. These skills are readily absorbed by the job market, providing immediate employment opportunities for the trainees. Community Development: Engaging the youth in productive activities will reduce crime and social vices, fostering a safer and more cohesive community.
Reduction in Unemployment: By providing marketable skills, the Centre will significantly reduce unemployment rates among the youth in Kibera. Crime Reduction: Engaging youth in productive activities will reduce idleness and crime rates within the community. Economic Growth: Training in TVET courses will lead to job creation and entrepreneurship, contributing to the local economy. Improved Mental Health: Providing a sense of purpose and employment opportunities will improve the mental health.
