Finetuning details for our blood donation campaign

By Miguel Juarez | Community manager

On May 31st and June 1st, the story repeats itself as our blood donation campaign returns to AMANC with the strong conviction of helping many children with cancer in San Luis Potosí. Promoting altruistic donation is another one of our objectives. According to data from the World Health Organization (OMS), the blood donation rate in Mexico was approximately 15 donors per 1,000 inhabitants. This figure is below the OMS's recommended average of at least 10 donors per 1,000 inhabitants.

It is important to highlight that blood donation in Mexico varies in different regions and cities of the country. Some urban areas may have higher participation in altruistic blood donation, while other rural areas may face additional challenges due to lack of access to healthcare services and education about the importance of blood donation. It is from here that the idea of creating these campaigns arises since many of our patients come from very distant towns and do not have friends or family members who can donate blood for them.

In order to combat this problem, we are carrying out this blood donation campaign, which will take place on May 31st and June 1st at the facilities of the AMANC center in San Luis Potosí, from 8 am to 11:30 am.

As part of the promotion to gather more donors, we are conducting a campaign through social media, printing posters, giving presentations in companies and universities, among other activities. We expect approximately 50 donors per day, and we also anticipate the participation of the entire AMANC SLP team and volunteers from different organizations.

We are thrilled to think that we have the support of many incredibly generous individuals. We will continue to work very hard to help more and more children with cancer.
