Project Report | Dec 20, 2022
The Superviviente

By Miguel Juarez | Community manager

Coming from the municipality of Matlapa in the Huasteca potosina, Horacio our childhood cancer survivor is 17 years old, for us he is a clear example of effort, sweetheart.
Descendant of a family of bakers, his early years were spent like any child willing to get to know and enjoy the world. Just before entering primary school, his mother detected that something was wrong with him, because he got sick very frequently, every time with more intensity, small balls began to sprout on his neck, in addition to high temperatures due to fever. Which alerted his mother and she decided to take him to the hospital closest to him. A few days later he was transferred to the Central Hospital of San Luis Potosí, where he was studied and diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
When they arrived in the city, Horacio's family already knew about the existence of this organization, therefore, they did not hesitate to request support, since they did not have a place to stay or money to eat. Thanks to the support they received from AMANC, Horacio successfully completed his treatment, thanks to the desire to live, the commitment of his family and the support provided by this association.
Horacio has currently been in the surveillance phase for 9 years, just one year after being discharged, all his family and friends are extremely happy with this success story.
He has his dream of studying gastronomy, to open his own restaurant because his love for cooking is great, which motivates him to keep going and continue supporting his parents.
This case, like many more, is living proof that if we join forces we can be stronger than cancer, motivating us to continue working hard for the health of all our beneficiaries.
