Project Report | Jun 3, 2026
Empowering Young Mothers Through Business Skills and Economic Opportunity

By Dancan Okaka | Chief executive officer

Project Report

Reporting Period: May 2026 – June 2026

Organization: Saidika Organization

Project:Equip 300 Young Mothers with Business Skills (Project #59652)

 Summary

During this reporting period, Saidika Organization continued its commitment to empowering young mothers through entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, business development support, and mentorship. Many young mothers face economic challenges that limit their ability to provide for their families and achieve financial independence.

Through this project, we equipped participants with practical skills and knowledge to help them start, strengthen, and sustain small businesses while building confidence and resilience.

Activities Implemented

1.Entrepreneurship and Business Skills Training

Young mothers participated in business development sessions covering business planning, customer care, marketing, record keeping, and income-generating opportunities. The training aimed to strengthen their entrepreneurial capacity and increase their chances of economic success.

2. Financial Literacy Sessions

Participants received training on budgeting, savings, financial planning, and responsible money management. These skills are helping beneficiaries make informed financial decisions for their households and businesses.

3. Mentorship and Peer Learning

The project created opportunities for young mothers to learn from one another, share experiences, discuss challenges, and receive mentorship on personal and business growth.

4.Community Engagement

Participants were encouraged to take active roles within their communities and support one another through networking and collaboration.

 Impact Achieved

Through this project:

*Young mothers improved their understanding of business management and entrepreneurship.

* Participants gained practical financial literacy skills.

* Beneficiaries reported increased confidence in pursuing business opportunities.

* Women strengthened their support networks through peer learning and mentorship.

* Families benefited from increased knowledge on household financial management and income generation.

Beneficiary Story

One participant shared:

"The training has given me hope and confidence. I have learned how to plan my finances, manage a small business, and think about opportunities for improving my family's future. I now believe I can become financially independent and support my children."

This story demonstrates the impact that skills development and mentorship can have on young mothers striving to create better futures for themselves and their families.

Challenges Encountered

While progress continues, several challenges remain:

*Limited access to startup capital for many participants.

* Economic hardships affecting young mothers and their families.

* Limited resources to reach all targeted beneficiaries.

* Increasing demand for business mentorship and financial support services.

 Looking Ahead

In the coming months, Saidika Organization plans to:

*Expand entrepreneurship and financial literacy training.

* Strengthen mentorship opportunities for participants.

* Link beneficiaries to business development opportunities and support networks.

* Increase outreach to more vulnerable young mothers.

* Continue promoting economic empowerment and self-reliance among women.
