"I appreciate that the training offered at the CJ Hub provided me with essential computer knowledge. I gained skills and now I hope to join university to study criminology, using my knowledge to enhance my research and investigations." – Beatrice, CJ Hub graduate 2025
Youth unemployment in Bunyala subcounty is over 60%, and there are few opportunities for improvement.
Our goal is to change that situation for our students, and the community at large.
Beatrice just finished her course at the CJ Hub, and recently, I got to witness her new skills first-hand. Over a Zoom meeting, she bravely demonstrated a project in Microsoft Designer. I have to admit, I was blown away! In just 12 short weeks, 144 hours of class time, she learned how to create designs for Wedding Cards, an immediately marketable skill. Along with the rest of her cohort, she also learned Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Access, and Publisher. Her class also tackled the basics of internet searching and emailing. These are all brand new skills for these students, many of whom had never even used a computer before.
The digital skilling provided at the CJ Hub provides students with skills that they can take forward to university, technical school, starting their own businesses, getting jobs, or advancing in their current employment. In the past 12 weeks, these students also benefitted from a workshop on writing a business plan, and participated in a career counseling session. Our goal is to equip our learners with not only the skills, but the confidence in themselves to be able to improve their situation and give back to their community.
We are tremendously proud of our students, our volunteer instructors, and our community for supporting us. Thank you!
