Update from The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation

By Julie Hutchison | President, Co-Founder and Chelsea's Mother

The new date for Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland has been set for 2016.  The date will be November 2-3 and The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation will continue to send as many families to partake in this amazing event as we possibly can.

The 2015 Event was amazing.  People from around the country joined in Southern California to raise awareness.  Moms dads, kids and advocates came together to learn more about epilepsy and to raise awareness.  This event was created three years ago to unite the epilepsy community, advance awareness and reduce stigma.  The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation is one of the Founding Partners of this event.

Everyone attending Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland was invited to participate in an Expo the day before.  The Expo featured over 80 non-profit support groups, in addition to several epilepsy centers, drug and related product manuacturers, seizure response dogs and their trainers and epilepsy professionals from around the world.  Guests had access to conversations that may not have otherwise taken place.

It is estimated that over 2000 attended both the Expo and Epilespy Awareness Day.  The sea of purple Mickey Mouse tshirts was a sight to see.

"As we are waiting to board our plane back to Chicago, Becca and I are going over all the information that we have received and all the loving families we have met.  This was such an amazing opportunity for our family.  We can't thank CHF enough for all you have done for us.  Thank you will never be enough."  (Rosemary L)

"I learned this week that the best things in life aren't things.  They are beautiful smiles, happy amazing live-transforming memories, moments where we could be ourselves, moments I wish I could have wrapped up in a little snow glove to admire forever.  We learned, we grew as a family emotionally, and we came home transformed."  (Ally M.)

"This was an awesome experience.  A dream we could never have dreamed of actually coming true!!!  The expo was full of wonderful info and I can't say enough about the wonderful families we met.  I've always believed people are put in your life at certin times for certain reasons and the knowledge and experiences I've gained since finding CHF (while trying to find answers on the internet) only reiterates that belief."  (Michelle T.)

There is always time to date to this project.  Any funds raised through this site will bring more famlies to the 2016 event.  Thank you for helping to make this such an amazing time for our families.
