Summary

Envaya builds and deploys technology that provides "the last mile" of connection between community-based organizations and the larger development sector in developing countries. Our technology is optimized to work with infrastructure in these localities, enabling these organizations to utilize the connectivity that is now becoming available to them. We currently support over 600 local groups in Tanzania, have just gone live in Rwanda, and have plans to expand in Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Challenge

There are many grassroots organizations in the developing world, doing strong and important work. They often know exactly what needs to be done in order to build their communities, and are already performing the tasks that will accomplish these goals. But often, due to communication deficits, they are unaware of other groups doing similar, if not the same work. In addition, they are often at extreme disadvantages when trying to communicate with larger NGOs and development agencies.

Solution

Envaya has developed a simple way to bring these groups onto the web, and to link them to each other as well as the larger NGO and development agencies. This will help expand and strengthen civil society in developing countries, and as civil society, that part of a community that is not business or government, builds, the entire community will benefit and prosper.

Long-Term Impact

As civil society is strengthened, problems are solved, trust builds, and local solutions to local issues are enhanced. The long-term implications are enormous.
