Dear Friends,
Meet Bosco. Bosco is a father of 5. He is a husband. For the past 15 years he has worked for himself, driving taxis and tailoring. By all measures, Bosco is a typical entrepreneur, seeing opportunities in the market and positioning himself to take advantage. They only thing different about Bosco is that he is a refugee.
Congolese by birth, Bosco fled to Rwanda in 1997 and has been living in a refugee camp for the past 19 years. Now, Bosco proudly sells chapatis and samosas. Half of his customers are other refugees, and the other half are shop keepers in the neighboring town. Bosco's dream is to have enough capital to build a small bakery and grow his chapati business into more baked goods and breads.
AEC has worked with Bosco for the past 4 months, and he has continued to impress the AEC team. AEC is currently working with Bosco to help him develop a more robust accounting system, so that he may become eligible for an AEC loan.
Our hope is that Bosco will eventually be able to grow his business so that he and his family can move out of the refugee camp and live comfortably on their own.
Happy holidays,
Julienne
