On October 20th, Israel is set to implement new restrictions preventing Palestinian Americans from visiting their families & restricting entry of students, academics, bus. leaders, & volunteers. The US Government is weighing extending the U.S. Visa Waiver Program to citizens of Israel. In turn, Israel is required to provide Visa Waivers to U.S. citizens without discrimination - this is our opportunity. New Israeli procedures will make it more difficult to enter Palestine. The restrictions seemed designed to isolate Palestine and cut it off from global civil society. Because many visitors are coming from the U.S., in effect the entry restrictions codify discrimination against U.S. citizens based on their ethnicity, & national origin. U.S. consideration of the visa waiver program presents an opportunity to resolve long standing discrimination in the entry process to Israel and Palestine.
Rebuilding Alliance asks your help on a two-fold approach: 1) Ask Congress to intervene on behalf of their constituents that wish to enter Palestine & 2) launch a Contact Congress Zoom briefing campaign to assure fair and equal access for all Americans into Palestine. RA invites constituents to engage House & Senate offices in Zoom briefings with experts in the region. This is not lobbying, because it's not about legislation- it's about intervention. Discrimination against Americans who wish to enter the West Bank separates Palestinian families. Restricting entry of students, teachers, and volunteers further isolates Palestine from the world community. Ending discrimination and respecting Palestinian and American rights are necessary steps towards advancing Palestinian welfare and contributing to peace and security in the region. This moment of opportunity can bring families together and provide relief to those living in fear of separation.
