Rabbit project has been an exciting journey but with possible challenges especially high mortality rate among baby rabbits. With a number of interventions by our staff and experts, the challenge was addressed. All the bunnies that were produced in February and May 2025 are still alive and healthy. The interventions include refresher training for farmers on rabbitry management, rabbit feeding and care, regular monitoring visits to the farmer to check on the health of the rabbits.

For further replication of the project and other farmers benefiting from the project, we passed on two rabbits to on 25th of July 2025 to another farmer of Twesigangane group- Mbaraara found in Kitoba subcounty. The rabbits were 2 months old and in good health.

After the handover of rabbits to the farmer, the farmer received thorough training on rabbit feeding, management and care. The training aimed at equipping the farmer with the knowledge and skills necessary to raise healthy and productive rabbits, eventually improving their livelihoods and contributing to food security. The farmer also received a rabbit house. This house is crucial for  a rabbit's well-being, providing a safe space for rest, play as well as offering security from predators.

We shall continue offering required support to the farmer so ensure that the rabbits are healthy and reproduce in order to ensure sustainable income and agriculture for the farmers.
