Rabbit project is a micro project that provides rabbits of good breed self-help groups also called Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) of 20 members. The initiatives is focuses at raising rabbits for meat, manure as well as income generation for smallholder farmers.

The rabbit project has been an exciting journey in which we have implemented a number of activities and registered great impact especially with rabbit urine improving soil health. However we have encountered a major challenge of rabbit survival which limited expansion of rabbit population among our farmers.

Towards the end of last year, we engaged an expert and trained farmers on rabbit feeding and health management, housing and bunny management which was well received by farmers. And now have registered a change.

One of our farmer’s rabbit gave birth to 2 bunnies and they are 2 months old now. The bunnies are growing well and healthier. Their survival is attributed to the lessons learnt by our farmers from the training. We pray to say those bunnies grow older and give birth to more and more bunnies.

Inconclusion, our staff and farmers are committed to improve the performance of the project.
