The Trust for the Americas supports young people from vulnerable communities, to overcome obstacles by teaching courses in professional and technological skills and offering guidance for new economic opportunities. Your support has helped us reach young people in Brazil through our Social Franchise POETA (Partnership for Economic Opportunities through Technology in the Americas).

POETA is a regional initiative that promotes digital literacy, life skills and job readiness to advance economic opportunities for vulnerable groups, particularly at-risk youth, women and people with disabilities. At its core, POETA aims to bridge the inequality gap in the region through a multidisciplinary approach that helps participants develop life plans, start or strengthen social and economic ventures, secure a job, internship or further education opportunities. To this end, POETA operates through a network of technology centers, which are spaces equipped with computers, adapted technologies and learning materials.

Abrhão, 25, is a young man from Curitiba with a congenital hearing disability. He completed high school and wanted to study business administration. He joined the POETA center because he was seeking for an employment opportunity in the administrative sector without success.  Abrhão attended courses in computer science, Excel, and accounting, showing great interest and proactivity. Thanks to his participation in the center he is now pursuing his dreams and professional goals. He got an employment opportunity in a University center as an administrative assistant. As an employee, he was awarded a scholarship, which allowed him to pursue administration studies. Abrhão intends to finish his program and then pursue also graduate studies.

With your support, we help youth like Abrhão, who otherwise wouldn’t have easy access to technology and its benefits. People with disabilities and/or economic and social barriers are mostly underrepresented in the fields related to technology. We kindly encourage you to keep donating so that young entrepreneurs like him can access more opportunities.

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your support .As an organization seeking for the most effective way of providing opportunities for those in vulnerable situation, we are now moving toward new opportunities. Our POETA program understands the challenges that exist in developing the professional skills needed to meet the labor demand in Peru. Partner organizations, like COPEME and Fundades, provide the physical infrastructure and staff necessary to implement sophisticated and comprehensive training programs, ensuring that the center will sustainably invest project resources to continue delivering results to beneficiaries.

Over the past seven years, The Trust has deepened its experience in developing and implementing job-readiness and social inclusion programs for marginalized populations, including at-risk youth, people affected by internal armed conflicts, and people with disabilities. Since its inception in 2005, the Partnership in Opportunities for Employment through Technology in the Americas’ (POETA) network of nearly 150 training centers have enabled over 76,000 participants to develop skills and attitudes that equip them with the tools to take on new roles within their economies and societies.

We invite you to support our latest projects in Giveforyouth.com. Each of your donations help us to grow and continue working so all youth in Latin America and the Caribbean have an opportunity for a better future,  becoming agents of change in their communities.

Thank you again for all you have done to help this cause.
