PROJECT TO START PER 1st JULY 2026!
To allow for some more time to collect sufficient funding for our new project, activities will start from the 1st July.
In the meantime Unreached Youths trainings with funds from our other (outgoing) donors continued.
Responses to our work remain consistently positive: A great encouragement for us all!
In the past months a variety of follow-up actvities took place: HIV/AIDS Psycho-Education sessions, e.g. by Mesa Farm Unreached Girls on the 14th May 2026, several Refresher (i.e. Advanced Training) sessions, such as in the Big Tree area for 'Marlies Unreached Girls', and two sessions for school youths facilitated in collaboration with our PET Facilitators Team (PET = Participatory Educational Theatre).
Amongst the latter, the session at the St. Columban's School for the Deaf was most touching: The topics were gender based- and domestic violence, as well as teenage pregnancies. Our deaf friends (pupils) freely shared, and roared with laughter in response to the skits: Such special and light moments, because it often takes a time for those who cannot hear, to process jokes when they are cracked.
New KAP Strategic Plan 2026-2031
Full explanation about our new plans for our 'Unreached Youths' activities will be shared in our next GlobalGiving Report.
Mental Alienation
However, hereby we already like to present our new term for the conditions with which our Unreached Youths struggle: Mental Alienation.
This psychological and sociological state of feeling disconnected involves a loss of meaning, belonging, and authentic connection, often leading to deep-seated feelings of worthlessness, powerlessness, or existential detachment. It occurs when external forces (like social pressures, broken families, economic conditions, or rigid systems) cause people to live according to imposed values rather than their own authentic needs. Or when indigenous culture, values, or identity have been marginalized or stripped away by external forces . In Kenya over the past few years there has been a sharp increase in frequent school fires, sects and cults, suicides (attempts) and other expressions of disconnect and destructive behaviors, especially amongst young people
Mental Alienation is related to Trauma but is not the same; Whereas trauma is the underlying psychological injury caused by a deeply distressing event, alienation is a consequence of that trauma that can complicate the healing process if left unaddressed.
