Overview
The Enhance Girls Enrollment in School and Sport project continues to inspire and empower young girls in Petauke by combining education and sport to build confidence, resilience, and opportunity. Through your generous support, we have made notable strides despite ongoing challenges.
Key Achievements
1. School Retention & Support
We successfully supported 22 girls to remain in school this past term.
These girls have now received their academic results, with promising improvement across most subjects.
2. Football Engagement
55 girls actively participated in football activities during the last quarter.
Our girls’ team played in the local league and proudly finished in 3rd position, a remarkable achievement considering the barriers they face.
3. Life Skills & Mentorship
Besides sports and school, the girls benefited from informal mentorship sessions focused on self-esteem, menstrual health, and career inspiration.
Challenges
Limited Local & International Support:
We continue to face difficulties in attracting more consistent support for the project, both from local partners and international donors. This limits our ability to scale and reach more girls.
Resource Constraints:
There remains a gap in basic needs support such as school supplies, sanitary materials, football kits, and transport to matches.
Looking Ahead
Despite the challenges, our team is energized by the positive transformation we are witnessing in the lives of these young girls. We aim to:
Increase enrollment to reach at least 40 girls in school and 75 in sports by the next quarter.
Host a community engagement day to raise awareness and encourage local support.
Expand mentorship sessions to include digital literacy and reproductive health topics.
