Establish a modern community library at Karagita/Mirera Slums in Naivasha, Kenya to provide for access to reference material to 3000 pupils of Mirera Primary and a further 1500 students of Mirera Secondary school. The library will be constructed on a community donated land. A clear and simple monitoring & evaluation strategy shall jointly be developed
There are currently more than 3000 pupils in Mirera Primary School and a further more than 1500 students in Mirera High School according to the statistics from the Sub-County Education office in Naivasha. The current Library facility serves only 45 students at a time. The government provides syllabus books only which are share at a ratio of 5:1. This has disadvantaged students who wish to undertake private revision. This project target to increase the ratio to 1:1 access to reference books.
The proposed library will have a sitting capacity of 500 students to provide access to reference material to 500 students at a time. More books will be available to students to the ratio of 1:1. The facility will be equipped with diverse reference material to provide a wide scope to the learners, that will make the well equipped to pass their exams as they develop their career paths.
The library will provide reference material to over 4500 pupils and students that will influence their career path, inculcate reading culture resulting to an informed society driven out of the ignorance as a chain of poverty.
