In the first six months of 2024, our online interventions have remained one of our main focuses, enabling us to provide English education to disadvantaged children from rural, remote, and deprived communities in 11 Chinese provinces: Shanghai, Ningxia, Henan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Fujian, Yunnan, Gansu, Anhui, Guangxi, and Shaanxi.
We are pleased to report that our School Videolink Program is currently running in 30 rural schools across China, reaching 1,906 students. At the same time, our Home Classroom Program – which consists of volunteers teaching online to 5-10 students located in their own homes – offers after-school classes to 580 students. In total, 2,486 under-served students joined one of our online English programs in 2024, and we recruited and trained 288 volunteers to deliver an impressive total of 1,464 online lessons so far.
Our curriculum continues to be centred around using fun and interactive activities, stories, picture books, and songs to provide students with the opportunity to practice vocabulary, sentences, and dialogues, thus fostering their enthusiasm and interest in speaking English.
None of this would be possible without the efforts and dedication of our volunteers, donors, and other supporters. Thank you all for your support!
