After several challenging years, 2023 has brought a sharp rebound in our program activities across China. Thanks to our partners, donors, and volunteers, our programs have experienced a significant increase in enrollment, now reaching disadvantaged students in more than 10 provinces in China.
In the first six months of 2023, our online interventions continued to be our main focus. We scaled up our School Videolink Program from 26 to 29 rural schools, located in Fujian, Anhui, Henan, Yunnan, Jiangxi, Guangxi, and Guizhou provinces, reaching 2,316 students (102% increase compared with the same period last year). At the same time, our Home Classroom Program – which consists of volunteers teaching online to 5-8 students located in their own homes – reached more than 870 students across China. In total, 3,186 students joined one of our online English programs in 2023 so far, and our volunteers delivered an impressive total of 2,228 online lessons.
For the upcoming summer months, we will continue to provide engaging English lessons to more than 700 disadvantaged students in rural China through the internet.
It goes without saying that none of this would be possible without the efforts and dedication of all of our volunteers, donors, and other supporters. Thank you all for your support!
