In the last months, we have continued to sustainably scale up our Videolink Program, in which we organize, train and support volunteers to teach English lessons to rural children in disadvantaged areas of China. In the spring 2019 semester, 78 trained volunteers taught regular English classes via the internet to more than 1,085 children at 8 primary schools in rural parts of Shanghai, Anhui, Henan, Yunnan and Hunan.
One of our greatest achievements in 2019 is to have increased the number of disadvantaged children served by our program while making significant improvements to our training program by providing more hands-on teaching practice and feedback to volunteers in the training sessions and by completing the development of our own bespoke English teaching curriculum, which includes training materials and 120 videolink PPT lessons. Class observations by our trainers suggest that the quality of the lessons provided by our volunteers has increased since they use the new teaching materials.
Our aims for the Fall 2019 semester is to start one or two new program sites in rural China. Thank you all for your support!
