Dear Donors & supporters ,
Greetings from IDEA Team !
We are here again with a brief update on the project we have initiated with your support . In this report we would like to present the success story of Renuka and a few activities held during the past couple of months .
Renuka proud to be called a ‘Sister’….
Renuka successfully completed the Bedside Assistant course in August 2011.She had dropped out from school in 9th Std. Later she started assisting her mother in domestic work. IDEA identified her while working in her community. She was counseled to rejoin the school again but she was least interested. So the social worker motivated to join the vocational course to achieve skills. She showed interest in nursing and joined the course conducted by IDEA.
Renuka’s progress was monitored regularly . She was regular and was very active in learning all things . The field visits and the internship boosted her interest in this field. She successfully completed the course with A+ grade. She continued her job in the same hospital where she did her internship. Very soon she confidently started giving injections and all duties as a nursing assistant . Today she is earning Rs. 3000/month and is proud to be called as “Sister Renuka.” She has started looking smart and more confident. She motivates other drop-out girls from her slum to join a vocational course to stand on their feet.
Her parents who are Ragpicker / Casual labourer are happy to see Renuka’s success. She is the only one to achieve some skills in her family. Her other siblings are educated upto primary class and younger brother is schooling.
Renuka enjoys serving people and aims to be a good Nurse.
Life skill sessions for Adolescents
Life skill session was organized for 30 adolescents on goal setting, time management and study habits. It was conducted by Sunita Bhujbal and Sujata Kamble- Social Workers of IDEA. The importance of Goal setting ,the role of education & interpersonal relationship in the family , strengths & weaknesses of the person etc. were discussed. The time management sessions focused on prioritizing the tasks for better results. Through participatory & demonstrative method the study habits & few techniques to improve their academic performance were discussed with the students. These sessions were very useful for participants.
Vodafone volunteers in action !

Anemia detection , talk & interaction with a Gynecologist & fun games were part of the celebrations. Women also enjoyed delicious snacks and were glad to carry box full of sweets for their children/ family ! Vodafone sponsored the entire expenses of the program.
Employee engagement program by Symantec !

Symantec – a Global Giving partner sanctioned a grant for implementing a project on ‘ Joy of Learning Science & Mathematics’- an initiative with the involvement of employees from Symantec .
