Network Leaders bring EQ Cafés to a neighborhood near you!

You subscribed to email updates from Engage 1B People Practicing Emotional Intelligence by Six Seconds, a project on GlobalGiving. Here's your latest update:

Practicing Emotional Intelligence in Community
As part of our mission to engage 1 billion people practicing EQ, we’ve been growing a vibrant, global network of volunteers hosting EQ Cafés, 90-minute workshops that make emotional intelligence practical and accessible in community spaces, both in person and online.

Each Café centers on one of our key themes for the year. In 2025, we’ve been learning more about:

Conflict – Navigating challenge with curiosity and compassion

Authenticity – Showing up with honesty and integrity

Resilience – Building inner strength to meet a changing world

EQ Cafés are free and open to the public. They happen around the world: in living rooms, libraries, Zoom rooms, and anywhere people are ready to grow and learn together. The Cafés are interactive, grounded in real-life application, and designed to increase insight, connection, and purpose.

Network Leaders are Catalysts for Community EQ
Cafés are made possible by our global team of Network Leaders, certified Six Seconds practitioners who volunteer their time to host these sessions and invite others into the practice of EQ. Each Network Leader receives access to beautifully designed materials, training calls, and a shared library of tools to support facilitation. Hosting Cafés also contributes to a Network Leader’s professional growth, offering both community impact and continuing education opportunities.

EQ Cafés for Impact
We know that emotional intelligence grows when people have safe spaces to explore their inner world and connect with others. Cafés are designed for that, whether someone is new to the concept or deepening a long-held commitment.

EQ Cafés are an important part of our Six Seconds’ Theory of Change:
We support people to build inner skills → which leads to strengthening relationships → that creates a positive community ripple.

Thanks to your gift, we’re scaling this work, not only adding more Cafés, but expanding our support for the Network Leader facilitators who make them happen. Every Café is a small act of courage and care and another step toward a more emotionally intelligent world with 1B people practicing!

World EQ Day: A Global Day for Connection

Making EQ Visible — Together!

We had a impact goal for World Emotional Intelligence Day on June 6 — 100 posts on social media to make emotional intelligence visible in the world. We wanted to raise awareness and spark conversation about the power of emotional intelligence. And the result?

165 posts and reposts. 730,600+ views. One inspiring day.

Thank you to everyone who took part in #EQDay, sharing real, heartfelt moments of emotional intelligence in action. People posted personal stories, favorite tools, photos of POP-UP Festivals and EQ Cafés, and reflections on the role of EQ in their lives and work.

We asked: Will you participate in EQ Day next year?
100% of respondents said yes — absolutely. That’s a powerful vote of confidence in this shared movement.

And what helped them take action? Responses highlighted the value of our community support, templates, email prompts, reminders, and the inspiring stories shared across the network. One person said:

“I enjoyed the build up to #EQ day and was excited to participate and be a part of it”
“The suggested wording and visuals made it so easy to join in — I felt part of something meaningful.”
“I loved the NL and POPUP community where people post, share and cheer each other on and amplify this movement”

But most importantly, what did it mean to those who joined? Here’s what we heard:

“It felt great to be part of a community with a shared goal to help others and make the world a better place.”
“I felt inspired, responsible, empowered, grateful, proud.”
“It’s my small action to add to the vision of Six Seconds.”
“Making noise on the same day globally... I loved feeling that oneness.”

We’re already planning for EQ Day 2026 and looking for new ways to engage even more people next year. Because growing emotional intelligence at scale isn’t just possible — it’s happening.

Expanding our impact

We’re launching Six Seconds Impact Area

At Six Seconds, we believe emotional intelligence (EQ) is the key to a thriving future—especially for young people. That’s why we’ve launched a bold new strategy for our Social Impact Area, designed to expand partnerships, engage our global network, and create measurable change for youth wellbeing.

What’s New?

Our Social Impact Area will drive greater collaboration, helping us reach more young people with the skills they need for the future. This strategy has three key pillars:

Partnerships for Greater Reach
We’re actively building collaborations with organizations that align with our mission—leveraging resources, funding, and expertise to scale our work. Through these partnerships, we’ll bring emotional intelligence training, tools, and advocacy to new communities worldwide. Do you have an organization you think would be a great partner? Introduce us!
Activating Our Global Network
Our thousands of certified practitioners now have three ways to participate:

Service Projects – Leading EQ Cafés, POP-UP Festivals, and Climate of Emotions events to bring emotional intelligence directly into communities.
Fundraising – Helping raise awareness and support for key initiatives, including Annual Giving and specific youth-focused campaigns.
Advocacy – Using their voices to spread the importance of EQ and introduce Six Seconds to potential partners and funders.

Measuring & Sharing Our Impact
We’re investing in impact measurement—creating tools to assess how our programs improve wellbeing, and expanding our research initiatives to publish data-driven stories. This will allow us to continuously refine our approach and share results with our supporters.
