DeckerMed Africa Trust (DMAT) remains deeply grateful to Essilor Luxottica Foundation for their continued partnership and generous donation of eyeglass frames that made our eye outreach activities possible. Together with the support we get from GlobalGiving, this has significantly expanded access to vision care for underserved and vulnerable communities across Kenya and beyond.
With Essilor Luxottica’s support, DMAT successfully integrated eye care services into our medical camps and outreach programs throughout the quarter
Key achievements include:
Conducted 3 community eye camps across rural and peri-urban communities
Screened and consulted over 1,000 patients
Distributed donated frames and prescription glasses to 458 to individuals with refractive errors
Provided referrals for advanced eye conditions including cataracts and glaucoma for 17 patients
Increased awareness on eye health through community education sessions
Many beneficiaries reported immediate improvements in their ability to work, study, and carry out daily tasks, demonstrating the transformative impact of simple vision interventions.
