"The purpose of this project is to provide free maternity health care for underprivileged African American women. The US ranks 60 in maternal mortality with African American women being 3-4 times more likely to experience adverse outcomes due to lack of quality care as European women. The goal was to be able to provide care for up to 500 pregnant women per year with the donations recieved.
This project is being deactivated due to lack of donations recieved in its current state. The project will be updated to note that we are producing a documentary about the need for access to maternity care and to raise awareness on a larger level about the issues facing American women. We anticipate we will reach a larger audience by giving women a chance to tell their stories and make their voices heard, connecting with others from their communities and encouraging action.
