Working with various rural and vulnerable communities is a promising way towards achieving a healthy and productive living. This project in which a load of interventions are embedded, has seen many lives bounced back on their feet. In our recent activity among the landlord forum of Itamerin community in Ibadan Oyo state Nigeria. Free health screening was conducted, where blood pressure and blood sugar were checked for about 50 community members. It led to discovery of new people with hypertension who were promptly counselled and treated. Some of them knew they had hypertension but they have not been taking their drugs. While for others, it was their first time. Thanks to the nature for taking us to such a populated community with no health facility for people to have their health needs attended to.
Mr Y.O was one of the beneficiaries, he could not shelf his joy as he thanked the management of Oak Rural Health Organization for such a life saving interventions. He said though he knew he was hypertensive, but he has been living on herbs with little or no effect. Our presence in the community has made him see reasons why he needs to see doctors in order to treat himself properly.
This project is producing results with the little resources available, thanks to our relentless donors. We solicit for more, so this project will reach many more and together we keep more people alive.
