JRFIUSA Update on the HIV/AIDS Situation in Cameroon 2025
Dear Supporters and Well-Wishers,
"The HIV/AIDS situation in Cameroon is rapidly worsening. The cost of antiretroviral therapy (ART) has increased sharply, with each dose now priced between 10,000 and 15,000 CFA francs ($20–$30 USD), requiring patients to spend approximately 25,000 CFA francs ($50 USD) monthly for treatment (UNAIDS, 2024). This price hike, combined with the withdrawal of support from organizations such as USAID and WHO, and the ongoing civil unrest in English-speaking regions, has left many individuals vulnerable and unable to access care (World Bank, 2024).
In zone 4, the HIV positivity rate ranges from 5.9% in rural villages to 12.9% . Limited testing facilities, stigma, and fear continue to discourage individuals from seeking diagnosis and treatment.
Despite these challenges, organizations like CHAMP and PEPFAR continue to support mobile clinics, community-based ART distribution, and education programs (PEPFAR, 2024). JRFIUSA urgently calls on international partners to help provide affordable treatment and scale up prevention efforts".
We encourage community members to adopt preventive measures such as using personal grooming tools, sterilizing equipment, and spreading awareness.
Together, we remain committed to combating HIV/AIDS in Cameroon. Our volunteers are embarking on sustainable education, leveraging technology and leadership requesting the JRCCA Volunteers to register and attend the Virtual Meeting at the DOS in Yaounde to acquire more know and share connect .
