Mission (nearly) accomplished!

By Julia Krepska | Founder and Director

We can’t believe how quickly the time flies. Our first phase of the programme for our 93 children is coming to an end! That means that the rice and other financial support for the families is finishing at the end of the year. The children will still continue receiving our extra tuition classes, library activities and families will still receive our advice and guidance on running of their businesses. But from January 2025 the families will be able to support their children on their own, without our support – and this is such a great achievement for us.

Our tailoring shop is a great success – we are the only female tailors in the area so our shop is very popular with the female customers. Our families making bamboo furniture and jewellery are also making income. Throughout December we are providing some additional training to the families to improve quality of their products so that they can earn even more. And from January new families should be joining our recycling centre. We are so excited about that!

In the meantime our new 50 children are doing so well, really enjoying their classes and attending school regularly. Their parents have just started their literacy training with us and after that they will start their vocational training, we are now finalising their skills assessment and making plans for relevant training.

We are planning to add 90 more children to the programme from the beginning of 2025 and we cannot wait to be able to introduce our interactive classes to them!

Thank you so much for all the support. It means so much. None of our children have gone back to work at the brick factories – and this is thanks to all the support we have received. Thank you.
