Support us in providing free, comprehensive HIV care to 13,000 Ugandans living in one of the most impoverished areas in Kampala, Uganda. The need is growing as infections spread. To address this need, Alive Medical Services provides a complete range of holistic services including clinical, psycho-social, and economic support all provided with our distinctive core value of love and dignity. Donations enable us to continue providing life-saving care and enables our clients to live a quality life.
Uganda made significant progress in suppressing the HIV prevalence rate from 2005 to 2013. However, by 2014, this rate alarmingly showed the third highest increase in the world. Cases of HIV have been on a steady rise since then, contributing to about 380 new infections diagnosed daily. It is well-accepted that the tools to end the global HIV epidemic are now available, and with perseverance, we wish to play our role in eliminating HIV in Uganda by 2030, in line with UNAIDS goals.
Alive Medical Services takes a holistic approach to this problem. From the moment a client arrives, they are embraced with open arms. We provide clinical treatment, psycho-social support, laboratory services, youth programs, family planning, nutrition and water sanitation support, and income-generation programs for free of charge. By providing this holistic range of services we are breaking down the many walls that prevent us from living in an HIV/AIDS free generation.
A fully-funded clinic allows over 13,000 HIV+ patients to receive the comprehensive care that they need to lead healthy, happy, and productive lives without the harsh stigma and hardship. By acting as a haven of hope for the patients of this area of Kampala, we hope to continue contributing to the global fight to end HIV/AIDS that we may be so close to achieving.
