The Cow Donation Program for Rural Women, initiated in 2000, is a transformative initiative designed to empower women in rural communities by providing them with a sustainable source of income and improved livelihoods. The program aims to enhance economic independence, improve nutritional outcomes, and foster community development through the donation of dairy cows.
Dalit Solidarity has empowered over 80 women across various rural areas. The program has significantly improved the economic status and living conditions of the recipients and their families.
Kanniammal, a widow with three children, received a cow through the program in 2008. The income from selling milk allowed her to send her children to school and start a small milk shop. Her children are graduating from college this year.
The program aims to expand to more regions, with a target of reaching 200 women by 2026.
