A Message to Our Supporters
Dear Friends,
Every act of kindness begins with a decision to care.
Today, because of people like you, ten women who survived sexual violence have a reason to believe that their future can be different. Although our journey has only just begun, your support is already sending a powerful message: these women are not forgotten.
On behalf of INUKA RELIEF and the communities we serve, thank you for standing with survivors and believing in their strength.
The Humanitarian Context
For decades, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has endured armed conflict, displacement, and widespread insecurity. Women and girls continue to bear the heaviest burden of this crisis.
Sexual violence remains one of the most devastating consequences of conflict. Beyond the immediate physical and emotional harm, survivors often face rejection, isolation, extreme poverty, and the loss of their livelihoods. Many are left to rebuild their lives with little or no support.
According to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), more than 25,000 survivors of sexual violence received medical care in 2023. During the first five months of 2024 alone, over 17,000 additional survivors sought assistance in eastern DRC.
Behind every number is a woman with dreams, responsibilities, and the determination to rebuild her life.
Our project was created for women like them.
About This Project
The Empowerment of 10 Women Victims of Sexual Violence project is designed to help ten rural women move from survival to self-reliance.
Rather than providing short-term assistance alone, the project combines psychosocial healing with practical economic opportunities that can create lasting change.
Each participant will receive:
Our goal is simple but transformative: to restore dignity, rebuild livelihoods, and empower women to shape their own futures.
Progress Update
Although field activities have not yet begun, important preparations are already underway.
Our team is currently working to:
The official launch of project activities is scheduled for November 2025.
Careful preparation today will help ensure meaningful and sustainable results tomorrow.
Funding Update
The total budget required to fully implement this project is USD 23,000.
We are grateful to share that the project has received its first donation of USD 10 through the GlobalGiving platform.
While this amount represents only the beginning of our fundraising journey, it represents something far greater than its monetary value.
It represents hope.
It represents trust.
It represents the first person who chose to believe that these women deserve another chance.
Every campaign starts with a first donation, and every life-changing project grows because compassionate people continue to join that journey.
With the continued generosity of donors around the world, we are confident that together we can reach our fundraising goal and make this project a reality.
How Donations Will Be Used
Every contribution will directly support activities that help survivors rebuild their lives.
Funds will primarily be used to provide:
INUKA RELIEF is committed to transparent financial management and will continue to provide regular updates so that donors can see the impact of their generosity.
The Difference Your Support Will Make
When this project is fully funded, ten women will gain more than vocational skills.
They will regain confidence.
They will earn an income.
They will be better able to provide for their children.
They will rebuild their place within their communities.
Most importantly, they will reclaim the dignity that violence tried to take away.
The impact will extend far beyond ten individuals.
Their children will benefit from greater stability.
Their families will become more resilient.
Their communities will witness that recovery is possible when survivors receive the support they deserve.
One empowered woman can inspire many others.
Looking Ahead
Over the coming months, we will continue preparing for implementation while expanding our fundraising efforts.
As additional resources become available, we will begin vocational training, provide psychosocial support, distribute livelihood start-up kits, and closely monitor each participant's progress.
This project represents more than assistance—it is an investment in resilience, recovery, and long-term community development.
We hope this initiative will become the foundation for supporting many more survivors across eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Thank You, GlobalGiving
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects local organizations with compassionate supporters around the world.
For community-based organizations like INUKA RELIEF, this partnership creates opportunities that would otherwise be beyond our reach.
We are also deeply grateful to everyone who has already contributed to this campaign.
Your generosity, no matter the amount, reminds these women that they are not alone.
Thank you for believing in hope.
Thank you for believing in recovery.
Thank you for believing in human dignity.
A Personal Invitation
Today, ten courageous women are waiting for an opportunity to begin again.
Not charity.
An opportunity.
An opportunity to learn.
To work.
To heal.
To provide for their children.
To dream again.
Our goal is to raise USD 23,000 so that these women can rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.
We have already taken the first step.
The first USD 10 has been raised.
Now we invite you to help us take the next one.
Whether your gift is large or small, it becomes part of something much bigger.
It becomes a training session.
A counselling visit.
A sewing machine.
A farming tool.
A small business.
A restored future.
Together, we can transform lives that have been shaped by violence into stories of courage, resilience, and hope.
Please stand with these remarkable women.
Together—with your support and the partnership of GlobalGiving—we can reach our goal and ensure that ten survivors are given the opportunity not only to recover, but to thrive.
Because every woman deserves the chance to rise again.
Thank you for walking this journey with us.
