Project Report | Jul 5, 2024
Thank you Facilitators Soukaina and Meriem

By Victoria Di Gaetano | Communication and Development Coordinator

Dear Friends,

We know that you believe in the mission of Project Soar: to empower teen girls to be the leaders of today and tomorrow, but how do we do that? It is mainly thanks to our brilliant dedicated Empowerment Facilitators!

Your gifts in this campaign allow us to pay local women facilitators to deliver workshops to underserved teen girls, and today we want to leave the floor to one of the beneficiaries of the project:

Loubna, 16 years old, she has been a Soar Girl since 2022 and has had the chance of being part of the BIGGER Movement to end child marriage. She was part of a theater play written, directed and performed by the teen girls beneficiaries themselves, to raise awareness on what child marriage entails and how much suffering it can bring to a young girl forced to it!

She shares with us her journey with Project Soar has been GREAT and how much she learnt from the workshops “I learned a lot from the voice module, for example, how to speak in front of people without being afraid or shy. The Path module was also very helpful. It taught me how to set a smart goal and create a good plan to achieve it. And most importantly, Project Soar has empowered me to participate in family conversations and share my opinions and thoughts confidently”

However, the main takeaway that left us really excited and satisfied because it is proof of the impact we are having on the teen girls beneficiaries is what she told us about the facilitators who have accompanied her from the beginning: “I want to express my deepest gratitude to Project Soar for this incredible opportunity. I know many girls in villages who yearn for a chance to participate in the program. I also want to extend my sincere thanks to my facilitator, Soukaina. Her guidance was invaluable, and she helped us learn a great deal and develop a strong vision for ourselves. Additionally, I'm grateful to Meriem, who keeps Project Soar community center open and running, allowing us to have a safe space every day.”

Stay tuned for more news from Project Soar and never doubt you are making a difference!

Best wishes, Project Soar team
