GOOD TO BE GOOD works to prioritise women and girls, particularly from marginalized and underserved communities, and achieve gender equality. We put them in the centre because we cannot overcome injustices until all people have equal rights and opportunities. To the best of our ability, we start by ensuring their specific basic needs are met on a short-term basis to help them participate in other aspects of their recovery and healing process, which is crucial to their safety, well-being, and necessary to maximise autonomy and self-sufficiency.
With the support from our community, the Empowering Care program (ECP) provides momentum to address gender inequities and vital support and services to women, girls and gender-diverse individuals. This program prioritises immediate relief but does not neglect the impact on long-term development. The assistance we deliver reflects conditions on the ground and is tailored to our community members’ cultural, social, economic, and survival needs. We aim to provide quality support through equitable access, coordinating holistic assistance across the municipality of providers and support systems, involving a required sensitivity for service delivery and recognizing that inappropriate service delivery may do more harm than good.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the team at GOOD TO BE GOOD, we proudly present our newly released 2022 Annual Report, titled "Better Is Possible"! This annual report celebrates the highlighted collective and coordinated efforts of our team, partners, and the people we serve. And as a caring member of GTBG's community, we're thrilled to share an electronic version with you. We hope this format will enable you to read and share it with your networks easily.
From our diverse lived experiences and identities to our ongoing work within the communities, we are a team of driven values-led people looking to expand positive efforts and repair deepened social injustices toward a vision of true, compassionate equality. We take pride in the transformative change our connections bring to women, gender-diver people, and their communities. As we reflect on another year of progress and action, we are reminded of the meaningful connections we've built through our partnerships, volunteer and community member interactions, and engaging with the larger community—all in the name of gender equity and our values.
2022 came with a few challenges as we continued navigating the uncertainty of the pandemic's impacts: economic transition plans were implemented, and demands for labour and resources rapidly increased. Covid-19 and the ongoing existing -isms of oppression continue to intensify the many barriers women and gender-diverse people face in all aspects of their lives while experiencing income inequality, violence, lack of access to critical resources, and forms of marginalization. As a result, we expanded our virtual programs into new regions, celebrated the outcomes of services in others, and continued to support women and gender-diverse people in the community on their path to empowerment and security through development and readiness workshops, peer counselling, and supports for affordable housing, survivors, and safety essentials.
Women and gender-diverse people are the heart of society, and any progress is only possible through their participation. Thank you for helping to make this happen—and championing this important work through and through!
As we look to the future, we are confident that our community and supporters like you are with us every step—and continue to carry the shared hope that better is possible and within reach.

2022 continued to present challenges that tested the resilience of the organization and many key partners across the social and equity justice space.
As the world started to re-open, we continued to provide the Empowering Care Program to community members in need of life-affirming supports and services—with the generosity and solidarity of people like you!
As we head into the new year, we will take a bolder and faster approach to scale up service areas across communities in Canada.
The coming year will also present and amplify current challenges, such as the cost of living crisis. Across the nonprofit and voluntary sectors, we need to be resilient. We're incredibly proud of this community and our team. How, time after time, we have responded to the challenges with willingness, flexibility, compassion, and a commitment to gender equity and justice.
You can find our "Empowering Care Program" Update Report for the end of year of 2022 below as a PDF. Please note that this is NOT an annual impact report for the organization.
We highlight how the work we do through this program contributes to alleviating emergencies and vulnerabilities for women and gender-diverse people in Canada.
We are grateful for your continued support and solidarity. Thank you for donating to this campaign last year and helping us meet the needs of people—just like you.

Your gift this year has allowed us to continue our much-needed work. Your support has been critical in helping us provide personalized supports, financial assistance, peer support, life-saving resources, food packages, transportation, and gift cards that help with everyday living expenses for those experiencing firsthand the impact of marginalization and injustices. Providing relief is vital in supporting community members during a time of inflation, rising inequality, lack of justice and social protection, and unequal care and opportunity. As one community member shared:
"And it helps with safety and gives peace of mind. And after all the cracks I fell through, this was so empowering to reclaim my freedom on another level once again."
We still have so much work to do, but witnessing the strength of our communities gives us hope. And we will continue fighting for the fundamental rights and dignity of women and gender-diverse people.
Thank you for being a part of our work in advancing gender equity.
In solidarity,
The GOOD TO BE GOOD team

Dearest supporters and community members,
GOOD TO BE GOOD is an intersectional, community-wide, grassroots humanitarian and advocacy nonprofit organization on a mission to serve marginalized communities and help build a kind and equal world. We provide hands-on, restorative, empowering support for women and their dependents in our communities who have felt the marginalizing effects of gender-based violence, structural poverty, systemic barriers, and social isolation. We believe that every woman, girl, and gender-diverse person deserves to live a life free from violence, poverty, and systemic oppression. We believe that empowering women also empowers communities and societies and advances gender equity for all. In the same breath, we see the importance of creating a culture that embraces kindness and compassion as essential to achieving true equality.
We continue to address gender inequity through our Empowering Care Program by providing critical supports and services to women and gender-diverse people through centring their voices, needs, and experiences.

Thank you for your generosity and solidarity!
In togetherness,
