TMEF is a Foundation that focuses on documentary filmmaking as a positive way to empower children and young adults in communities around the world. These documentaries allow the youth population of various communities bring awareness to how their daily lives are unique from one another. Building confidence in skills such as team building, public speaking, education, film making, leadership, and networking. The films generate revenue for a continuing education to ensure grown and empowerment.
Each community faces a new challenge. We go into the communities and hold a creative writing workshop with the youth. We encourage to explore their culture and the good things, and then bring to light the issues as well. This is almost always tied to poverty, with issues stemming into hunger, electricity, healthcare, domestic abuse, clean water, & many more. Each community presents new issues.
Our project gets the youth to look at the issues prevalent within their community from a critical thinking standpoint. They are challenged to come up with solutions to how they could make a positive impact on their own if given the means. Through the money raised by their films, they will get a full education while also putting money into their community. It will be the team of youths decision as to how the money for the community will be used to empower from within.
The direct long-term effect is providing a full education to the youth within these communities. To highlight the partner non-profits efforts and increase their donor base. To put money back into the communities and let the community decide where the focus should be. We seek to empower the communities to create growth and change from within.
