This charity project advances solutions to systemic barriers faced by Moroccan women by helping them to develop their agency and voice with a participatory approach to personal growth, empowerment, and leadership. Inclusive dialogues and rights-based education position women as community change-agents for sustainable economic development. Ultimately, women from diverse backgrounds will be trained to advocate for themselves, build cooperatives, and work toward achieving their goals.
Morocco's traditional society is patriarchal and male-dominated. Moroccan women have been politically, economically, and socially marginalized. The reality for women and girls in rural areas is that most are unaware of their legal rights and protections and have little opportunity for education, employment, or self-reflection. Such conditions hinder their active participation in their communities or identification and pursuit of personal goals.
The High Atlas Foundation assists women in finding their voices, building confidence in their abilities, and defining and achieving their goals through the IMAGINE self-discovery workshop series. Becoming aware of emotions, relationships, body, sexuality, money, work, and spirituality helps them overcome limiting beliefs, create a vision for their lives, and adopt strategies to achieve their goals. Integration of Morocco's Family Code educates them on legal rights and promotes social justice.
HAF has reached 7,000+ people through IMAGINE workshops, equipping them to become active contributors to their communities. Advancing participatory planning and community engagement reduces barriers faced by women and girls, propelling them into economic, social, and political spheres of Moroccan society, improving access to education, creating jobs by establishing cooperatives for business ventures, and reducing poverty.
