Renewing Accompaniment and Collective Resistance

With regard to the selection process mentioned in the previous report, 54 organizations were renewed for a new funding cycle, and the selection process for the remaining groups that will be supported over the next two years is currently nearing completion. This new cycle is taking place in a context shaped by rising inflation in Mexico and its impact on the operational capacities and sustainability of organizations. As a result, one of the key adjustments implemented was an increase in the minimum grant amounts in order to respond more adequately to the current needs of the groups being accompanied.

Among the renewed organizations working on issues related to violence are Cultivando Género A.C., Hasta Encontrarte, Búsqueda de Familiares Regresando a Casa, Morelos, A.C., Familias de Acapulco en Busca de sus Desaparecidos, A.C., Veredas Psicosociales, A.C., and Centro de Partos de San Cristóbal, A.C. Their work focuses primarily on the search for disappeared persons, access to truth, reparations, and justice processes, as well as support for activists and human rights defenders. At the same time, these organizations also engage in violence prevention work with children, accompaniment for migrants, and broader efforts related to comprehensive access to rights.

At the same time, during the close of the previous period, important advances were observed in strengthening and expanding the services offered by the supported organizations. One example is the work carried out by Centro Comunitario Guwa Kuma, which has become an important reference point for many women in their communities by providing a space for comprehensive support where they can be heard in their own languages and receive close accompaniment.

Through its legal area, the organization promotes an access-to-justice strategy centered on supporting survivors of violence by providing legal advice and accompaniment that does not necessarily require filing a complaint through the state justice system. In cases where necessary, the organization supports the preparation of investigative case files; however, its comprehensive defense approach also includes negotiations within community justice spaces and conciliation processes.

Similarly, in Yucatán, Igualdad Sustantiva strengthened and expanded its response to digital violence through the professionalization of its services and the expansion of its territorial reach. During 2024–2025, the organization consolidated a comprehensive first-contact model incorporating clear protocols for legal guidance and counseling, an articulated psycho-legal approach, and survivor-centered support. In addition, they expanded both the size and capacities of the team to provide counseling with a gender perspective, digital evidence management, and accompaniment through state-level reporting processes.

These strengthening processes are also reflected in the training strategies promoted by SORECE Asociación de Psicólogas Feministas, which developed training and awareness-building processes for 113 psychologists working in their communities of origin. These trainings incorporated feminist, gender, and intersectional perspectives, as well as analyses grounded in systems of oppression. They also emphasized the importance of holding male clients accountable for the violence they exercise as part of an ethical-political approach to therapeutic practice.

As a result, important transformations were observed both among the professionals — reflected in a decrease in transphobic comments, the use of inclusive language, and greater knowledge of human rights and gender-based violence — and within the therapeutic processes themselves, where shifts began to emerge in sexist beliefs held by male clients.
