The ongoing conflict in Sudan has resulted in a growing humanitarian crisis. The Resistance Committees created Emergency Units providing humanitarian support. Despite their efforts, demand continues to grow, and additional support is needed. Women-led organizations face unique challenges that KACE has been involved in addressing through working under the LCC. KACE believes this avenue can also enhance peacebuilding at grassroots levels through intentional engagements.
The problem is the growing humanitarian crisis in Sudan due to the ongoing conflict, which has resulted in: 1. Increased demand for humanitarian support 2. Insufficient resources to meet the needs of affected communities 3. Unique challenges for women-led organizations trying to support their communities This situation highlights the need for additional support and resources to address the humanitarian needs and promote peacebuilding, particularly at the grassroots level.
This project, "Empowering Sudan's Grassroot Women, Building Peace," aims to solve the problem by: 1. Providing humanitarian support to women-led households through livelihood support, and psychosocial support. 2. Empowering women with skills and resources to enhance their economic resilience and promote social cohesion. 3. Supporting peacebuilding initiatives at the grassroots level through dialogue, capacity building, and community-led responses. This will reduce their suffering.
The project has potential to lead to sustainable peace, empowered women, and resilient communities. Women-led households will experience improved economic stability, mental well-being, and decision-making capacity. Grassroots leadership will be strengthened, and communities will be better equipped to cope with future crises, contributing to a more peaceful and prosperous Sudan.
