This Summer, we have been hard at work re-tooling our curriculum to better assist schools in the classroom implementation of the My School method. This year's program will focus on building not just capacity in the students, but specialization so as to play to the individual strengths in the classroom.
We are also excited to bring a partner onboard, local New York-based non-profit MyBlockNYC! MyBlockNYC.com is an interactive mapping website that captures and presents personal video accounts of the life and culture of New York City in order to create an intimate, evolving, and complete portrait of this great city. Users upload videos geographically, building the first fully interactive video map of New York City. As part of their in-class program, MyBlockNYC will be working with our students to create documentaries and build their filmmaking skills through hands-on learning! Check them out here: www.myblocknyc.com
Stay tuned for our project blog that will track the progress in the class and for updates on when the students will be sharing their work!
