Empowering Refugees in Kakuma with Generation Aid

By Hubert Senga | Executive Director

Over 300,000 refugees in the Kakuma Refugee Camp face limited access to education, employment, and digital opportunities, trapping many in cycles of poverty and dependency. Generation Aid is transforming this reality by providing vocational training, digital skills, English language learning, and entrepreneurship programs that empower refugees to become self-reliant. Through training in tailoring, business management, coding, and communication, participants gain practical skills to secure jobs or start small enterprises. So far, over 100 refugees, including 70% women, have benefited many launching income-generating activities. With continued support, Generation Aid aims to expand training access, foster inclusion, and help refugees in Kakuma build sustainable livelihoods, dignity, and a brighter future for their communities.
