Empowering Poor, Rural Girls in Paraguay

At the Mbaracayu Educational Center, learning and personal growth extend far beyond the classroom. This year, our students showed just how far determination, teamwork, and confidence can take them.

The girls recently participated in Paraguay’s 2026 National School and Student Games (JEEN), representing their school and community in futsal and volleyball. Their hard work paid off: they became departmental futsal champions, earned second place in volleyball, and secured their place in the regional stage of the competition.

For our students, these achievements represent much more than trophies and rankings. Many of the girls who attend the Mbaracayu Educational Center come from rural and vulnerable communities where opportunities for young women can be limited. At school, they receive an education designed to help them develop the practical, entrepreneurial, and personal skills they need to build their own futures. Fundación Paraguaya's educational model is designed to prepare young people for employment, entrepreneurship, or continued education while developing their potential and agency.

Sports are another important space for that growth. Every training session teaches perseverance and responsibility. Every match requires communication, trust, and teamwork. And every time the girls step onto the court representing their school, they have an opportunity to see themselves as capable young women who can set ambitious goals and achieve them.

Their success at JEEN 2026 is a celebration of what happens when girls are given the space and opportunities to discover their strengths.
