Empower to Transform

By Maria Paula Granados | Communications coordinator

In Medellín, every teenage mother’s story holds the potential to be rewritten. At Fundación Juanfe, we’ve seen it firsthand: when real opportunities are provided, true transformation becomes possible.

In 2024, 534 teenage mothers began a journey of empowerment with us, impacting the lives of 2,136 children and family members. Through our 360° Model—which integrates mental health, education, employability, and family support—Medellín has become a city that believes in the power of its young women.

Thanks to comprehensive psychosocial support, we reduced depression symptoms from 29% to 13%, anxiety from 39% to 16%, and low self-esteem from 55% to 22%. These aren’t just statistics—they are clear signs of resilience, healing, and restored dignity.

Our work extends to the family environment as well. We conducted 493 home visits, strengthened support networks through 9 family meetings and 9 couple sessions, and carried out 248 family interventions, creating safe spaces for dialogue, care, and shared responsibility.

In terms of sexual and reproductive health, we provided 808 individual counseling sessions, helping 96% of participants access safe and effective contraception, most of them long-term methods.

None of this would be possible without the support of donors, corporate partners, and public institutions who believe in the value of investing in women. Every contribution turns into tangible opportunities. More girls breaking cycles of poverty. More mothers regaining their self-worth. More families building a new future.

Today, Medellín stands as proof that meaningful change happens when it is guided by purpose. And while we’ve come a long way, hundreds of young women are still waiting for their chance.

Your support could be the beginning of a new story.
Donate today and help us transform the world, one woman at a time.
