Partnering with One World One Rope, CFK’s jump rope program builds confidence, encourages leadership, and teaches healthy ethnic and gender cooperation to hundreds of youth in the slum of Kibera.
Kibera, located in Nairobi, Kenya, is one of the poorest slums worldwide. Half of the residents of Kibera are under the age of 15. Many youth, especially girls, are unable to attend school, resulting in decreased confidence and opportunities. The majority of these girls ultimately end up in early marriages, working as day laborers, or on the streets.
Partnering with One World One Rope, CFK’s Jump Rope program uses an easily learned sport to provide youth in Kibera a safe space to learn leadership skills, express themselves, and play alongside peers of different ethnic tribes.
Our goal is to expand the Jump Rope program in order to promote gender equality, build confidence, and develop leadership in our 'jumpers' to ultimately improve the quality of life and opportunities of youths in Kibera.
