A New Chapter: Choosing a Name and Welcoming New Members
The Girls' Club opened a new stage with the arrival of new members and the lessons gathered along the way. To strengthen group identity, the girls began by creating a new name and logo to represent them. Through a collective vote, the club was officially renamed "Flores que crecen" (Flowers That Grow), a name that reflects the growth the participants experience together, both individually and as a group.
Building Shared Agreements: Coexistence Norms and the Club Diary
In this first phase, the group established its coexistence norms and introduced the "Club Diary." Each participant made her own notebook using cardstock and bond paper, decorating it in her own style. The diaries are kept safe each week in a club treasure chest. The main purpose of this space is for the girls to express themselves freely, without the pressure of "good" or "bad" ideas, allowing them to gradually adapt to the club's dynamics and feel at ease in the group.
Being a Woman in Socio Vivienda 2
The club then launched the first thematic axis of the new activity schedule, centered on "being a woman." This axis aims to broaden the girls' reflection on and understanding of their surroundings, as well as the roles played by the women around them and by the girls themselves within their community. Workshops explored the roles of a friend, a daughter, and a mother in SV II, using narrative techniques such as storytelling, art as a means of expression, and group work.
Joint Workshops with the JUCONI Committee: Mothers and Women of SV II
The club also held workshops on emotion management and a bracelet-making workshop in collaboration with a group of mothers who are part of the Foundation. These joint sessions offered a valuable opportunity for the girls to share quality time and exchange experiences with women at a different stage of life, strengthening mutual support and building positive role models within the community.
Looking Ahead
With a new name, shared agreements, and a first thematic axis underway, "Flores que crecen" moves forward with a stronger sense of belonging. The club will continue to offer a safe, participatory space where every girl feels seen, heard, and valued, accompanying them as active agents of change in their community.
