How To Create Agents of Change in the Community

Community health workers (kader) are at the heart of healthy villages. As trusted members of their communities, they play an essential role in supporting mothers, monitoring children's growth, and sharing important health information. Through this project, we are equipping at least 100 kader from 20 Posyandu (Village Health Post) with the knowledge and confidence to become even stronger agents of change.

In April, 98 community health workers participated in the first interpersonal skills training, focusing on teamwork and communication. The training helped participants strengthen the skills they use every day when supporting families in their communities. Their average test scores increased from 76% before the training to 91% afterward, showing a clear improvement in knowledge and confidence.

In May, in partnership with the local Puskesmas, we delivered the first basic health knowledge training on communicable diseases and appropriate case referrals related to stunting. Eighty-four participants attended, and average test scores rose from 50% to 78%, demonstrating a significant increase in understanding.

The positive collaboration between Yayasan Usaha Mulia and local health authorities continues to strengthen this program. As the Head of Sukanagalih Community Health Center (Puskesmas) shared:

"We are grateful for the dedication of Yayasan Usaha Mulia, who diligently support the Posyandu in our area of Sukanagalih. Your noble work keeps us motivated to continue our partnership in preventing stunting!"

Together, we are building a stronger network of community health workers who will continue improving the health and wellbeing of mothers and children for years to come.

Thank you for your continued support of this program. We look forward to sharing more updates from the field in the coming months.

With my sincere appreciation,

Vanessa Reksodipoetro
